The Headshots and Portraits I create . . .  are designed to be the best you can get for any purpose from social media to personal branding to acting.

To accomplish this, I like to photograph a range of looks and expressions. I shoot tethered to a computer. This also allows us to collaborate on elements including body language, hair, smile, ( or not)  that can influence facial expression.

Along the way we minimize any phobias that the subject may have regarding being photographed, I provide Sephora blotting paper to control any shine from the Houston heat & humidity.

We review images in between rounds of shooting . . . which allows us to see what we are getting and to target the images we are both happy with.  I want to capture the essence of who you are… without all the distractions.

After your session is over, The selected image or images are then individually edited to remove minor blemishes, brighten eyes, whiten teeth and remove flyaway hairs.  I then crop to suit your company specifications or your individual needs.   I provide a complimentary web optimized crop for LinkedIn.

Whether its’ a single headshot or a day shoot at your location for multiple subjects . . . I’d like to be a resource for you.

Are all Headshots the same?

No….many corporate headshots are captured using one light source. an umbrella or a
medium softbox. While this is satisfactory for some uses… i.e. security cards or institutional
applications…it leaves a lot to be desired in defining a persons’ features. wardrobe and hair.
• The Three light system is a time-honored classic Method to portray a subject.
• That’s the lighting…. The next component is
• Body language, smile or not, and coaching the subject to engage the camera and lens.
• Shooting tethered creates a collaborative environment wherein the subject is not merely
being passively photographed…but works with the photographer directing the subject to
show subtle changes in body angle, head tilt, and facial expressions. That helps the
photographer create images that favorably represent the subject, that capture the essence of
the subject, and are believable and professional.

What is this Personal Branding stuff?

Chances are you need images for more than just one application. An image that works well for LinkedIn’s square crop, may not be effective for other social media. Consider other potential applications: your website or company website, Facebook, Instagram, email signature, speaking engagements and/or bio, etc! A strong collection of branded images can support telling your business’s story. Stay in front of your target audience with world-class stellar headshots!

What to wear – Women:

    • Avoid big prints and busy patterns.
    • A white or cream-colored blouse by itself is not recommended.
    • Sleeveless blouses or tops by themselves are not recommended.
    • For a no-jacket casual look, bring various colored blouses – ideally darker than your skin tone.
    • For a more contemporary look . . . Gingham, Tattersall, Windowpane, Pin Check, & Shepard’s check blouses, are acceptable as casual attire in the workplace.
    • Wear colors that compliment your features.
    • Darker colors project a more business-like image
    • Makeup- wear a little darker than you normally would. Avoid shimmers or products with lots of sparkles or shine.
    • Keep jewelry simple.
    • Avoid jewelry that would distract from your face or that looks dated.
    • Bring a few accessories with you if you are unsure

What to wear – Men:

    • The corporate look is a suit jacket, dress shirt, and tie.
    • Wear clothes that are comfortable, that make you feel confident and look your best.
    • Make sure your clothing fits you well. Clothing that is too big or too tight will be obvious in the photos
    • Instead of a Black jacket, consider Navy Blue, mid-tone Grays, or Brown tones.
    • A casual business look is often a jacket and open dress shirt, or dress shirt on its own.
    • For a no-jacket casual look, bring several colored shirts – ideally darker than your skin tone.
    • For a more contemporary look . . . Gingham, Tattersall, Windowpane, Pin Check, & Shepard’s check shirts are acceptable as casual attire in the workplace.
    • For photography purposes, a white dress shirt by itself is not recommended. However, you can wear a white shirt underneath a jacket.
    • If you are not sure, feel free to bring a few different jackets, shirt colors, and ties so I can assist you with selections.
    • If you tend to have a 5 o’clock shadow in the afternoon, either schedule your session for a morning time slot or plan on shaving before your session if it is in the afternoon.
